Arooba Kazmi
I am a Pakistani-American journalist and author with a passion for long-form storytelling. After working as a Production Assistant at KCBS Radio for a year, I moved to New York City to complete my master's degree in journalism at Columbia University.
At J-School, I learned that the best narratives stem from our own experiences and biases.
In addition to writing a 3,000-word story on homosexual Muslims and the clash between their faith and sexual orientation, I also wrote about how the pandemic affected people in Pakistan and the struggles of dating in the South Asian culture.
My masters project was a compilation of narratives on American immigrants and their decision to stay in the United States despite the tensions that brewed in summer 2020.
In addition to writing, I possess a fondness for visual storytelling, especially photography. I've covered protests, weddings, engagements, parades and more. If you would like to book a session with me, please send me a message using the form on my contact page.
My ultimate goal is to become a talk show host because I'm funny and curious and I enjoy learning about people and their journeys.
When I'm not working, I am traveling, reading romance novels, dancing to Bollywood songs, eating tacos or sushi with friends or engrossed in intellectual or candid conversations because well, I love to talk.
